I remember when I first had set it up ("Always Lead") that the "Add Sugar as a Contact" was greyed out and I was not able to use it, exactly as we intend to use it.

I wonder what has happened since then.

I noticed that the Sugar Connect portal setting is not translating into Outlook and need help figuring out what causes it.

Our setup is this:

However, when in Outlook, the functionality looks like this:

"Add Sugar as a Contact" should be greyed out/disabled, but when clicking on the button it works.

How do I solve this?

Hi Barb ,

The setting you reference is in relation to how contacts would be synchronized from the saved contacts in Outlook if a user chooses to enable contact synchronization. The second image is Sugar Connect prompting a user to create a new record in Sugar from an email since no current record can be found based on that email address. To my knowledge, there is no way to limit the creation of new contacts from Sugar Connect unless the user belongs to a role that restricts 'Edit' access on the Contacts module.

Thanks Francesca! Being in the on-demand environment makes having custom code a bit problematic. Since copying records probably isn't a common practice, it's probably not worth submitting this as an idea. It looks like I'll just have to live with this anomaly.

It may not be a good practice, but to create a new Account or Contact record, many of our users make a copy of a similar record and change the content of fields to make the record unique.

For example, they will copy an Account or Contact record that is attached to a Parent Account, and simply change some of the fields (like the name, phone number, email address, etc.) The benefit is that there are many other fields (especially custom fields) that are identical to the source record that don't require data entry (like the assigned user, team, and numerous custom fields).

The last interaction field for the source record is also populated. It isn't a "major" issue since that field is updated when a meeting or call is recorded for the new account or contact record.

Sometimes, there may not be a new meeting or call related to the new Account or Contact to update the link.

My Question: In the on-demand environment, is there a way to unlink the Last Interaction association?

Thanks Chris, Once again, Upsert leads the way.

It's not a "major" issue, and it's my personal obsession with having things correct. The annoying thing about this is the reports that show an interaction where one didn't happen. Most of the time, a new account or contact has some interaction within a week or two and the field becomes "real".

If you don't mind custom code you should be able to use the extension framework.
Rafael Fernandes I would argue that should be the case out of the box, though Copying Accounts/Contacts is probably not very common practice.

Create:

Extension/modules/Accounts/Ext/Vardefs/disable_on_copy.php

$dictionary['Account']['fields']['last_interaction_date']['duplicate_on_record_copy'] = 'no';

Similarly for Contacts.

Note that the module name is "Account"/"Contact" singular in the Vardefs.

Hi Bud ,

The native Last Interaction field is strictly read-only (no ability to modify via Studio) and cannot be modified by stock SugarBPM actions. The only ways to reset that field to a blank value would be via a custom logic hook or via a utility like our Upsert BPM Essentials plugin. With Upsert BPM Essentials, you can use our Enhanced Change Field action in a SugarBPM process to modify any read-only fields:

One thing I will note is that Sugar only has the Last Interaction field on Accounts and you referenced this functionality being on Accounts and Contacts. I recall you implemented a solution from a Sugar partner, enable, to track last activity. If the fields you are looking to modify are from that solution, it may be possible to modify those fields via SugarBPM.

If the fields from that solution are listed in Studio and flagged as read-only, temporarily remove the read-only attribute. Then you can use the stock SugarBPM change field action to set the field to a blank value when new records are created and that field is populated. Once you have your SugarBPM processes configured, go back to Studio and re-enable the read-only attribute on the field. After the field is marked read-only again, the SugarBPM action will no longer show the field modification you configured within the action, so be sure to label the action clearly to inform admins of its 'hidden' purpose. I've regularly used this approach for modifying read-only fields where customers did not have Upsert BPM Essentials.

the amount shown for "Won" in the worksheet Header does not match the amount shown in the Pipeline metrics. Typically the amount displayed in the Pipeline Metrics is the same as the amount displayed for "All" in the Worksheet Header - when Opportunities are "Lost" the amount displayed is subtracted from "All" and displayed as "Won" in the Pipeline Metrics. However, I can confirm the the amount shown in the Worksheet Header is the correct sum of the total Opportunities "Won" for the time period.

the data provided in some of the metrics is inaccurate - "won" is designed to display Opportunities already Won - because this is no accurate all other metrics related to this number is also not accurate. How can i resolve this issue?

Finally just saw this! That works awesome!

Do you think it would be possible for this to be done for all of the quotes done for a shipping address? I tried it on the company record and, Its interesting because I can see all the line items for a billing company but not all of the products for a shipping address because it was not "sold to" them (I am guessing).

I am trying to find a way to see all of the products sent to a shipping address when making a quote so that we aren't sending the wrong products.

When a salesperson creates an interaction in Sugar Sell under a lead it automatically creates a calendar invite and sends it to the lead. Is there a way around this? We just want to be able to document all interactions with the lead without sending any invites.

Same thing seems to happen when creating an interaction through Sugar Connect.

We have seen very similar to this too as per Fransesc's comments.

Sugar Sell Advaced + Sugar Connect (Google)
User edits a Held meeting but the attendees (customer related to the meeting) were receiving a meeting invite to a meeting they had already completed!

I concluded that this behaviour was Google, not Sugar.

In google calender if you edit an event and save you get an option to notify attendees, yes or no.
I believe that when sugar connect syncronises the event it does not have that option and kind of defaults to Yes!

Our workaround was twofold:
1) Edit the setting for sugar connect to NOT sync Held meetings.
2) Only one field sycs from sugar to google cal descriotion... we stopped editing that field too.

I dont know if that is the exact same behaviour as you are experiencing? But hopefully enough similarities to be helplul :-)

By default, when a user adds a Call / Meeting under a Lead / Contact and hits the Save button, no invite is sent from Sugar unless, as Francesca said, there are BPMs or logic hooks in place.

Is it possible that you are using a Calendar integration with your Outlook / Gmail? Either Sugar Connect or another provided by a 3rd Party?

If so, I would review the configuration on the Calendar sync, as it might be the reason why the invites are being sent.

I don't believe I've seen this behavior before, I don't think it's standard in Sugar. You probably have a logic hook or BPM that defines that behavior.

Yes, I created a new relationship with both subpanels sent to default and it works as desired.

I was then able to go into the subpanel for each module and update the fields shown.

I've created a new many-to-many relationship between Opportunities and Accounts. The subpanel on the Opportunity module shows up as expected "Agents"; however, on the Account side the related subpanel "Related Opps" appears, but there is no way to edit which fields show.

In my example, there you can see where the Agent has one opportunity associated with it, but you can't see the details:

How do I get the "Related Opps" ops to show on the Agents subpanel?
