ICYM: Open Dev Office Hours: Ask Anything, Share Ideas, Shape What’s Next recap

We kicked off the first Developer Office Hours with a pretty open and candid conversation. Rafael shared that he’s been transitioning into a new product-focused role, which explains his recent shift in activity, but also highlighted that a big part of his focus now is shaping where the platform is headed.

From there, the session naturally turned into a mix of updates and Q&A. Rafael addressed a lot of questions from the community, everything from release timelines to what developers should expect moving forward. He clarified that the upcoming 26.1 release is mostly focused on stability and bug-fixes, while the bigger innovations are still in progress.

A big part of the conversation centered around Sugar’s direction in the AI space. Rafael answered several questions about how things are evolving, what that means for developers and partners, and how AI will fit into the broader platform experience. While details are still emerging, the message was clear: there’s a lot coming, and it’s being built with extensibility and real-world use cases in mind.

The group also touched on day-to-day developer topics, shared feedback on using AI tools in their workflows, and highlighted some practical lessons learned. Overall, it felt like a strong mix of forward-looking vision and real, grounded developer concerns.
